    Two Wolves

One evening, an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, “My son, the battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.”

The grandson though about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?” The old Cherokee simply replied,” The one you feed.”

    Vinegar Wash

When I was little my mom would have me lay on the counter top in the kitchen and she would wash my hair. She always rinsed my hair with apple cider vinegar before the shampoo. I loved having her wash my hair. There is something amazing about someone else washing your hair.

I recently rinsed my hair with apple cider vinegar and my hair was so silky smooth afterward. We all have so much goop in our hair that builds up and makes our hair flat. ACV is SO great for getting all the build up off your hair. Make sure you rinse with vinegar before you shampoo or your hair will stink! My favorite vinegar is Bragg’s Organic Apple Cider Vinegar!

    The Important Things in Life

A philosophy professor stood before his class with some items on the table in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, about 2 inches in diameter.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filledup everything else. He then asked once more if the jar was full. The students
    responded with a unanimous “Yes.”

“Now,” said the professor, “I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The rocks are the important things – your family, your partner, your health, your children – things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter – like your job, your house, your car.

The sand is everything else. The small stuff.” “If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued “there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal. Take care of the rocks first – the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.”

    Parsley Chew

Chewing parsley cures bad breath: Parsley has long been known to counteract garlic breath. The high sulphur content of garlic that causes the unpleasant odor is counteracted by compounds in parsley. But putting parsley in food to cure bad breath doesn’t work. It takes chewing a sprig of fresh parsley.

    Prayer for the Planet

May this beautiful, breathing home we call Earth be healed!
May the flowers that bloom continue to smile their happy faces back at us.
May the water continue to flow free and clear glistening in the sun.
May the clouds above us continue to be be puffy and grand.
May the trees continue to sway with strength and purpose in the wind.
May all living creatures be filled with peace and love!
    Happy Earth Day!

    Light in the Window

I was feeling a little down the other day. I always notice when I am feeling down miraculous messages tend to show up from the most unlikely sources. A friend called and told me to write down on a piece of paper what I wanted in my life. She told me to be extremely detailed. Then she told me to hang that sheet of paper on a window that got a lot of sun. She says the universal light of the sun will bring what I want in my life to fruition! I love that. I am working on my list now!

    vibration and Connection

You don’t have to worry about what their vibration is if your vibration is one of connection. Because if your vibration is one of connection — you’re going to dominate the vibration.

This is the way you learn your relationships. The thing that most people do not understand, is that you get to control the way you feel, because you get to choose the thoughts you think. Most people think that they only have the option of responding to the circumstances that surround them. And that’s what makes them attempt the impossible, which is to control the circumstances around them, which only feeds their feeling of frustration and vulnerability because it doesn’t take very much life experience to discover you can’t control all of those circumstances. But you can control your vibration. And when you control your vibration, you’ve controlled everything that has anything to do with you.

    Brushing Your Skin

Your skin is considered your third kidney. Dry brushing removes dead skin cells, improves
the circulation of blood and lymph.

    How do you dry brush?

Before you get in the shower, take the dry brush (a loofah or body brush that is dry) and beginning with your feet, brush in sweeping motions, slowly moving toward the heart. All movements that begin below the heart move toward the heart. Arms are also brushed toward the heart, and brushing on the neck and chest is done with movement toward the armpits.

This is great to do once a week and especially during a detox.

    Vegan Broccoli Salad

Broccoli salad is one of my favorite things from my southern heritage, to make during the holidays. I used to make the amazing Paula Deen’s version, which included cheese and bacon, but now I make a vegan version I came up with and it tastes just as good as Paula’s!

Ingredients: – 1/4 cup maple syrup – 2 tablespoons Bragg apple cider vinegar – 1 cup Vegenaise – 1 organic apple chopped – 1 red onion chopped – 1/2 cup dried cranberries – 1 cup chopped walnuts – 6 cups chopped broccoli pieces – salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions: Wash and dry broccoli thoroughly. Cut broccoli and stems into small pieces. Place in a large bowl. Add apples, red onions and walnuts. In a small bowl, combine remaining ingredients, stirring well. Add to broccoli and toss.

    Be the Spring Today

It’s easy to see how the seasons are in balance. I think about this as I watch changes at the river at the bottom of our hill. In winter, the river can be seen through naked branches. Then, new spring foliage blocks our view of the river until leaves fall in autumn to reveal river again. River or leaves: one comes and the other goes. I can see the river in the leaves, and the leaves in the river. They need one another. We are in a moment of transition as we watch the cycle renew. The anticipation is beautiful.

The weather is transitioning too, between light snow and seam-less
blue days. Plants are rousing from their winter slumber, yet all
the year’s flowers are still ahead of us. My husband says this is
the best time of year. It is the time of “the almost”, the time
of knowing that good things are coming. We can use our imaginations
to visualize the beauty and light that is just beyond reach. I see
the flowers blooming in my mind every day.

Be the spring season today. Be March. Embrace the moment before,
the anticipation, knowing all the good that is about to come. Let
the anticipation of renewal bloom in your mind.

    Peace,
