Your Need to Control the World

“If you knew your potential to feel good, you would ask no one to be different so that you can feel good. You would free yourself of all of that cumbersome impossibility of needing to control the world, or control your mate, or control your child. You are the only one who creates your reality. For no one else can think for you, no one else can do it. It is only you, every bit of it you.”
    – Esther Hicks

Everyone is a Part of Us

While driving home from a family trip, I thought about the other carson the highway. The cars were filled with strangers leading livesthat were independent yet parallel to my own. When did towns becomeso large that it became commonplace to be surrounded by strangers?

Strangers at the store. Strangers on the street. How many strangerswould be friends if we could meet?

Even though you and I have not met, Peaceful Reader, I know we needeach other. Imagine how interdependent and intertwined our liveswould be in a small community. The world is like that, only larger.

Today, try opening yourself to someone new. Show kindness to someone who shares your values and to someone who does not. It is not necessary to like someone to feel an inclusive love for them.

Kindness sees the depth of our sameness. Wisdom sees our essential diversity. Smile through both an easy encounter and a difficult encounter. Make a decision to spread peace wherever you can.

No one can be left behind when we recognize that everyone is an integral part of the whole. Can you see the essential unity that is the blessing of our story? Everyone is a part of us.

    Goodwill Hunting

Back when I lived in LA I would shop at Goodwill and thrift shops, always looking for old jeans (Levi’s 501’s). Well I have since made a return to shopping second hand! I am finding brands like Banana Republic, J Crew, Ralph Lauren etc. It is so great especially for the kids. I really got a laugh when my Prada-wearing, Haute couture friend called me and told me she was addicted to Goodwill. She went on to tell me she scours them looking for the best brands!

At least once a month I make a trip to drop of our old clothes. It is a big recycling circle, great for the environment and your budget! Check out your local Goodwill and thrift shop.

    Love Like a Dog

I love our dog Bosco! I think humans can learn so much from the behavior of dogs. Try for one day to behave like a dog. Love unconditional!!!

“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring–it was peace.”
